If you're a newbie or inexperienced painter and looking for the type of paint you should start testing and refining your skills with, acrylic paint should be your go-to.
Acrylic paint is considered perfect for beginner painters for a number of reasons. Acrylic paint is made up of pigment, which gives it the color, and a synthetic resin binder, which keeps the pigment's minute particles together, thus bestowing it a buttery and soft texture.
Acrylic paints are also a chemical-based product so they dry out quickly, this often makes them preferable to oil paints which are slow drying. And the biggest flex about acrylic paint is that you don't need any special boards or papers to use it; you can simply start painting on everything. Anything will do, whether it's a card, paper, or canvas board.
If you're using a laboratory-tested and refined acrylic paint, there's a lot to like about it, including the fact that it doesn't change color over time. It neither fades nor does it get that yellowish tinge. If you save an acrylic paint and check it after a few years, it will still be as good as new.
If you're trying to seal acrylic paint using hairspray, we don't recommend it. Why is this the case? Because, first and foremost, an acrylic painting does not require sealing, and second, a mixture of hair spray and acrylic paint can destroy an acrylic painting by making it squishy and gooey.
Acrylic paints, as previously said, appear to stay longer without turning yellow over time and without the need to seal or fix them with any sealant, let alone a hairspray.
Additionally, acrylic paints are also formed of plastic, and we all know that plastic doesn't need to be sealed. However, if you absolutely must apply a protective coating to your acrylic painting, we recommend using a good quality acrylic varnish for the job.
Acrylic paintings tend to last longer and can be stored for hundreds of years because the binder used in acrylic paint consists of resin. Acrylic paints are primarily constructed of plastic, which is why they are more durable and have a longer shelf life than oil paints.
However, if you want your acrylic paintings to last as long as possible, you'll need to store them carefully.
Extreme weather, such as scorching heat or bitter cold, might degrade the quality of your acrylic painting. As a result, you should keep it at a moderate temperature. Learn more about how to store acrylic paintings.
Yes, acrylic painting can be stored for longer periods of time if and only if it is stored properly. Don't keep or hang your acrylic painting or artwork in situations where the temperature is too hot or too cold.
Furthermore, avoid stacking your acrylic painting in a moist environment, as this may not only harm your painting but also make it prone to mold.
Having said that, if you follow the aforementioned preventive precautions, you should be able to stack your acrylic painting for at least 10 years.
