David Kracov's "Peace and Love" is a 3D metal wall sculpture that intricately weaves the hopeful symbols of peace and love through the playful and nostalgic lens of comic art. The iconic peace symbol forms the heart of the artwork, ingeniously constructed from numerous small hearts, each adorned with its unique comic-style design. These miniature hearts merge to create a more significant, potent symbol, each contributing to the overarching theme of unity and harmony. The diversity of patterns within the hearts echoes the varied but unified desire for peace across cultures. Kracov's choice of material gives a lasting solidity to what are often seen as fleeting ideals, offering a visual punch and a profound message that reverberates beyond the comic aesthetic. Measuring a significant square meter, "Peace and Love" is a vibrant call to action, a reminder of the collective aspiration for a world where love triumphs and peace prevails.
Born in Boston, David Kracov studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and began his career in animation with the Brad Pitt feature, ‘Cool World.’ David went on to work with Disney Animation, Don Bluth Animation, Rich Animation, as well as several other studios, before beginning his solo work as a sculptor and painter. Kracov’s vibrant color palette shows up in his unique steel wall sculptures that begin with hundreds of small sketches. David’s meticulous steel work along with his scrutinizing attention to detail allows his sculptures to take on a life of their own, and his famous butterflies take flight. David’s playful and creative works are each a testament to his steady hand and wonderfully unique artistic ideas. His work brings joy and humor to pop art.
