Todd Gray continues a tradition of Pop art with his own unique twist in his magnetic, three-dimensional sculpture. While Gray respects and celebrates the work of predecessors like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, he is essentially deconstructing the classic pop art imagery that these masters made so famous, later reconstructing it with his own unique visual language.
Original and relevant, Gray’s style places his work in a historical context, yet maintains his need for balance, simplicity, playfulness, and esthetic beauty. He uses abbreviated images of Pop Art and turns them into new, relevant and recognizable contemporary pop art, including cartoons, superheros, hashtags, social media, emojis and other objects embraced by contemporary culture.
Todd Gray has been a fine artist for over thirty years and his studios are located in Los Angeles California.
